Framing to conserve

Conservation framing to extend the life of artwork is recommended whenever the art has any value - either monetary or sentimental. An investment in quality framing now, will prevent heartbreak and further costs in the future in restoration or replacement.

Impressions offers nearly 500 different frame mouldings

Fabric art including embroidery and tapestries are a specialty - we prefer to frame these in the traditional way by lacing onto acid-free backing.

Follow-Up Care

Framed artwork should be routinely removed, inspected and cleaned every 5-or-so years to prevent premature aging due to imperfect products and adverse environmental conditions. Impressions is happy to provide this service.

Often people have had their artwork framed before the advent of conservation framing materials and are watching their paintings, photos etc deteriorating without being aware of the subtle changes happening before their own eyes.

Impressions Impressions are members of the Fine Art Trade Guild (www.finearttradeguild.co.uk) which is a trade association for the art and framing industry. The Guild Commended Framer Qualification (GCF) is recognised worldwide as the prime qualification for picture framers. Owner/manager Lewis Della Bosca GCF and staff picture framer La Verne Clark GCF have both earned this qualification. Fine Art Trade Guild members commit to its Code of Ethics and support its standards.

Because there are many variables, the only way to get a correct price is to bring in your art into the shop and try out all the possibilities that suit your taste. Then we can measure the work and accurately calculate the cost of the materials and procedures involved in framing the item. We are happy to provide a free consultation service to assist you to choose the best framing options to suit your tastes and meet the needs of the artwork.

For the DIY framer, we provide a chop service, moulding, backing and matboard, as well as a range of basic framing equipment.
