‘PORTRAITURE – CAPTURING THE LIKENESS OF YOUR SUBJECT’
One Day Workshops :- SUNDAY 1 AUGUST
10AM – 4PM
Venue: ART @ 203, 203 TRAFALGAR ST, NELSON
Tutor: Larisse Hall
Fee: $60.00
This workshop will further enhance your confidence and knowledge of portraiture, enabling you to capture the likeness of your subject matter whilst embracing and developing your drawing skills. The importance of line, tone and composition will be explored, through expressive rendering, unleashing your creativity in a fun and friendly environment. All levels of experience welcome. Be prepared to leave invigorated by your art and the possibilities your art offers to you specifically!
Materials required
- 5 x A3 mixed media paper OR water colour paper (Impressions Art Supplies)
- A3 Sketch Pad
- Inks, Pens, Pastels, Charcoal, etc (as you have to hand / normally use)
- Brushes (as you have to hand or normally use)
- Apron or Old T-ShirtPhoto or Reference Material – We will also work from ‘life’
- Gloves
Please remember to bring your lunch.
Tea and coffee will be supplied.
OIL PAINTING – THE FUNDAMENTALS EXPLORED
One Day Workshops :- SUNDAY 25 JULY
10AM – 4PM
Venue: ART @ 203, 203 TRAFALGAR ST, NELSON

Fee: $60.00
This workshop will further enhance your confidence and knowledge of oil painting, covering the necessities of oil painting from priming your canvas through to glazing techniques; unleashing your creativity in a fun and friendly environment, whilst increasing your technical capabilities with oil paint. Be prepared to leave invigorated by your art and all the possibilities your art offers to you specifically! Be surprised by the versatility of oils!
Materials required
- 3 x A3 mixed media paper (Impressions Art Supplies)
- 2 x A3 sheets of mixed media paper &/or canvases (no larger than A3 size please)
- Acrylic and Oil Paints (as you have to hand / normally use/ or have purchased but are unsure of)
- (The Acrylic paints are to allow quicker drying times for your undercoat)
- Brushes / Palette Knives (as you have to hand or normally use)
- Liquin Original
- Brush cleaner
- Old rag (for brush cleaning) & soft cloth/rag (for glazing)
- Paint palette or surface (Glass is recommended but not essential – an ice cream lid is acceptable)
- Apron or Old T-Shirt
- Photo or Reference Material (only if you like to work from such)
- Gloves

MIXED MEDIA FURTHER EXPLORED -

Materials required
1 x A3 mixed media paper (Impressions Art Supplies)
4 x A3 sheets of mixed media paper &/or canvases (no larger than A3 size please)
Paints (as you have to hand / normally use/ or have purchased but are unsure of)
Mediums (as you have to hand / normally use / or have purchased but are unsure of)
Impasto – most versatile mixed media product
Modelling Paste
Inks, Pens, Pastels, etc (as you have to hand / normally use / or have purchased but are unsure of)
Brushes / Palette Knives (as you have to hand or normally use )
Apron or Old T-Shirt
Textural Items or Collage pieces that inspire you – to be incorporated into your art
½ started work with textural underlayer already dried (only if you have already in progress)
Photo or Reference Material (only if you like to work from such)
Gloves
Please note: This course is a follow up to the first so it is about exploring materials and techniques that inspire / intrigue you and your art – so bring along any thing that may be of interest to you for your art and explore its full potential! If an item from above is not relevant to your art you do not need to bring it!

Impressions In-Store Art Tuition
How to Create a Beautiful Half Mask (4 session course)
Decorative wall piece, fancy dress, theme evening, prop or just an excuse to exercise your creativity in a new form!
- Learn how to create a half mask modelled on your face;
- From the very beginning to the finish, the whole process will give you a knowledge that you can incorporate into any other art or craft project you are involved in;
- Using plaster bandages, gesso, paint and many more materials to create this wonderful original piece.
Subsequent to the completion of the mask, all masks will be incorporated into Impressions' window display throughout October.
Dates and Times: Tuesdays 1.15 - 2.45pm, 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd September 2010.
Fee: $60.00 All materials supplied. Just bring protective clothing.
