Sarah Brock - Portrait Artist
Where: Art classes are held at my studio at the Refinery Artspace, 3 Halifax Street, Nelson.
Who: All ages. Drawing and Painting students work alongside each other. Everyone is working at their own level, at their own pace and place in their artistic journey. Students choose whether to concentrate on Drawing or Painting at the start of the term. Classes are small so that everyone gets regular one-to-one support.
What: Drawing: This term we will be working with line and tone to create 3D effects that really make your drawings pop out. Given my passion for the human face and form we will be concentrating mainly on the face and anatomy. We will be using pencils, charcoal and pastels.
Oil Painting: We will be working tonally at the start of this term – using underpainting techniques, creating tonally balanced compositions prior to moving on into colour. If we have time we will move on to blocking in colour then working in the details – if we don't have time this will run over into next term. Again, we will be working on the face and anatomy primarily.
Objectives: The primary objectives of my art classes are to improve observation and drawing/technical skills – while having fun and not taking the whole thing too seriously.
When: Starting 8 February 2010. Mondays 4 - 6pm, Thursdays 2 - 4pm & 5.30 - 7.30pm, Fridays 10 - 12 am
Occasional Weekend and School Holiday Classes - contact Sarah for details.
